CHETTE WILLIAMS MINISTRIES, INC. PRESENTS
“LIVING OUT THE TRUTH” 2008
Sharing the Truth about the
blessings of Abstinence
Auburn, Alabama. ---- Chette Williams
Ministries, Inc. welcomes Teen Straight Talk – SSC for the first annual “Living
Out The Truth” Conference to be held August 8th and 9th at
Lakeview Baptist Church in Auburn, Alabama.
This year’s theme is “Sharing the Truth
about the blessings of Abstinence”. The Centers for Disease Control’s finding
that 1 in 4 teenage girls have a Sexually Transmitted Disease, and an article by
Brittany Whitley entitled “Alabama ranks fifth in nation in STD rates” published
in the O-A News on March 16th highlights the profound need for a
conference like this one.
With prayer and profound concern for the youth
of our area, compassion has turned to action. Teen Straight Talk (TST), the
premiere resource for biblically based abstinence education will be the featured
presenters at the “Living Out The Truth” Conference. TST was founded in 1989 by
Mary Duke, a former educator and concerned parent in Warren, Ohio and has
expanded internationally. The Spartanburg, South Carolina branch of TST was
established by Vilma and Jerry Allen in 2002.
TST’s mission is to equip families with truth,
unaltered by the ever changing morals of society.
Their interactive multi media presentation
utilizes PowerPoint, video productions, and interactive exercises. The TST
PowerPoint presentation vividly illustrates the benefits of abstinence
and the physical, social, emotional and spiritual consequences of
having sex outside of marriage. With parental consent, youth
12 - 18 year olds view slides illustrating the
ravaging effects of sexually transmitted diseases like HPV, Herpes, AIDS, and
others. Abstinence until marriage is clearly God’s plan. It will enable youth
to make positive contributions to the welfare of their extended and/or future
families, to their church, and to their community. The aim of Teen Straight
Talk-SSC is to offer a clear message of hope that when acted upon, honors
marriage, and is 100% effective in preserving healthy families in Alabama and
beyond.
